Map of Public Assistance Grants for Public Schools in New Orleans

To increase the understanding of how federal funding has been used in the school system, we have consolidated school information through a partnership with FEMA, the Louisiana Department of Education, and the Recovery School District (RSD). To map public assistance (PA) grants for individual facilities, only permanent work is identified. Grants for Debris Removal and Emergency Measures are not identified on the map.

Public Assistance grants for individual facilities are processed through what is called a “project worksheet” - and multiple project worksheets may be written for a single facility.  To clarify the funding stream, all project worksheets for RSD schools were consolidated by school site and mapped.

This is also being done for those schools under the management of the Orleans Parish School Board to ultimately present a comprehensive picture of the status of PA grant funding for all public schools in New Orleans.

Along with the financial status of PA grants for each school, the operational status is also indicated in terms of being open or closed. To inquire about the future status of those schools that are closed or other schools anticipated to come online, please visit the Recovery School District website or call toll free at 1-877-343-4773.
