Haitian migrants rescued in the Windward Pass are turned over by the crew of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Valiant to officials from the Haitian Coast Guard in Port-au-Prince.

Today the U.S. Coast Guard began repatriating Haitian migrants directly back to Haiti. The safe repatriation of approximately 530 Haitian migrants from two Coast Guard cutters is expected to be completed this afternoon. The Haitian migrants were rescued from a total of 13 boats in the Windward Pass over the past several days. The repatriation is being conducted in coordination with the Haitian authorities. The migrants are being turned over to the Haitian Coast Guard.
