On April 29, 2003, Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Tom Ridge, announced the United States Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology (US-VISIT) Program, previously known as the Entry-Exit System (EES). Secretary Ridge also announced that the US-VISIT Program Office would report directly to the Under Secretary for Border Transportation and Security, Asa Hutchinson. Moreover, as part of this restructuring of the US-VISIT Program, Secretary Ridge set the goals for the US-VISIT Program. Those goals now drive the acquisition strategies, which the US-VISIT Program Office would like to share with their industry partners.
We would like to invite all interested parties to a US-VISIT Industry Conference to be held July 8, 2003 at the Crystal City Marriott's Crystal Forum at 1999 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22202. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. with Conference proceedings from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The purpose of the conference is to begin open communications with potential industry prime bidders/contractors and potential subcontractors/suppliers and provide information regarding:
The US-VISIT Program Office plans to engage companies/teams that are serious potential prime bidders in an exchange of information which will help the US-VISIT Team develop the Request for Proposal (RFP) for a US-VISIT Prime Integrator with the goal of issuing a final RFP by November 2003 and making an award by May 2004. A US-VISIT website is currently under construction and will serve as the information portal for US-VISIT. Additionally, there is a US-VISIT fact sheet available for review.
