Secretary Chertoff will travel to Little Sioux, Iowa this morning to inspect the damage caused by recent floods and tornadoes. He will meet with Governor Culver and hold a press availability at the Blencoe Community Center*. Additional details on the time and location of the availability are forthcoming.
Yesterday, Secretary Chertoff called the governors of the states impacted by the tornadoes and floods. He spoke with Governor Chet Culver of Iowa, Governor Jim Doyle of Wisconsin, and Governor Mitch Daniels of Indiana. Secretary Chertoff conveyed the thoughts and prayers of all Department of Homeland Security employees for the loss of life and destruction as a result of the recent storms and his commitment to support state and local response and recovery efforts as requested.
